The school year has gotten off to a fabulous start! A couple reminders:
1. 4th and 5th graders need to get their recorders in ASAP. We want to start playing this week and next week.
2. 3rd Grade Veteran's Day program has been scheduled. School Day performance will be at 2:00 in the gym. Evening performance will be after the 6:30 PTA meeting in the cafeteria. Both performances are on November 11th. We will be having a contest to see which third grade class has the highest percent of students show up for the evening performance!
In class we are having fun learning songs with our new concepts. We will soon be learning to read and improvise...
5th - 8 and 16th pairs
4th - Low la and low so
2 - do
1 - Quarter note and eighth notes
Kinder is working on opposites (fast/slow, loud;/soft, high/low)
2-5 is also brushing up Orff instrument skills. We are working on all types of borduns (two notes played together). Basic, levels, and crossover are all different types of mallet technique that we are developing.
4-5 are also developing listening journals. Once per week of music we listen to a short piece of music and have a chance to write about what we hear.
Hope you have a wonderful week! I look forward to making more music with the kids. :-)
